I'm no April Fool!

After a pre-Christmas knee injury, I fell completely out of the habit of exercising regularly. And though I had sporadic moments of activity, I did not continue as I had in the past. Some of my lost weight returned but not all of it. Now, I must lose it again. But there's no point in being angry for this. I am here and I'm grateful that I am not in a worse condition. Things happen and I just have to deal with it.

I feel so good after my second day of walking again for at least one-half hour. My headphones were on and my iPod was loaded with my favorite jazz artists. The inspiration was abundant as I walked and listened to Peter White, David Benoit and Roger Smith. I tried some slower songs that I hadn't used for walking before and I discovered my warm-up songs! I also discovered some new choreography for songs that I was listening to for the first time during my walks. I even tried a little grape-viney step-ball-change move that almost looks like skipping.

On my way home, I saw someone approaching me from the end of the block but I didn't recognize her and it didn't matter. I kept on doing my cute newly choreographed moves. As she passed me, she smiled and I recognized her. It was a neighbor and childhood friend. I smiled back and said "hi" then I just kept on going. We're all grown up now. And I've been doing this for over a year in front of 50 - 200 neighbors homes and countless commuters in cars and busses so... couldn't you have predicted how I would've handled running into anyone from those awkward Jr. High School years?  Whatever!

Do something beautiful for your heart today!  I'm so glad I did.
